A Brief History of Deltona Florida
Deltona Aluminum has had the privilege of being in business for over 30 years serving Deltona and surrounding communities. During that time, we’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot about our fantastic community! So, what exactly makes Deltona so special?
Deltona was originally established in 1962 as Deltona Lakes and was incorporated as a city in 1995 and has been nicknamed “Florida’s Bright Spot”. The official bird of Deltona is the Florida scrub jay while our flower is the azalea. Deltona has had steady growth since the city’s small beginnings and was named the most populous city in Volusia County in 2000. Today, Deltona remains the most populated city in the county and has a growing population of 92,757 people! Our first (and third!) mayor of Deltona was John Masiarcyzk Sr. in 2010. Located halfway between Daytona and Orlando, Deltona’s location makes it an excellent place to experience some of the best natural attractions and theme parks that Florida has to offer!
Don’t be fooled by Deltona’s quaint nature, there’s plenty to do here! With over 40 lakes in the area and a host of incredible springs and natural parks, Deltona offers beautiful trails for those who want to stay active including Blue Spring State Park and Hontoon Island State Park. Sports or golf fan? The Deltona Club has been nicknamed The Deltona Desert due to the sand traps located on the course and lack of water traps. Deltona is also home to Paxton Lynch, a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and Montana DuRapau, a former MLB pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Looking for something a little more adventurous? Deltona has been named the skydiving capital of the world!
Within Deltona you’ll find a wide variety of things to do and see including MedToxin Venom Laboratories that research the effects of venom on health and provide breakthrough technology to save lives all over the world. Be sure to stop by the Reptile Discovery Center to learn more about these amazing reptiles and even watch how venom is extracted and used in pharmaceuticals. Looking for something to inspire your own artistic endeavors? Be sure to visit the Museum of Art, a unique venue offering a variety of educational, instructional, and cultural activities. Looking to head outside of Deltona? The convenient location of the city makes travel to some of the biggest and best theme parks in the country a breeze!
